🧩 3 cool conversion hacks you didn't know about (until today)

Which keywords should you use in your CTAs & why red color

SaaS Strategists,

I’ve shared it one time, and I’ll share it once again.

Now, let’s get into today’s conversion strats. 🧑‍🚀

Here are 3 conversion hacks that can help you gain more customers 👇️

💹 3 conversion hacks to elevate your product

01) Red color converts best 🍎

The psychology of color plays a significant role in marketing.

And companies have been fighting over conversion statistics since the dawn of time.

Based on psychology, the best color for CTA buttons depends on the context, audience, and brand identity.

But research and A/B testing have identified that in most cases, red is the one that converts the most.

Example 1 - DMIX

Dmix ran a test with 600 subjects, and they found that conversions increased by 34% when they used a red button.

Example 2 - HubSpot

HubSpot ran the test for a few days and, in total, had more than 2,000 visits.

Their result? The red button outperformed the green button by 21%.

Example 3 - VWO

VWO tested a few variants of the “buy now” button & included a white button with green text, a green button with white text, and a red (dark orange) button with white text. You guessed it - the red button won with a 5% conversion lift.

Now, don’t get me wrong.

Painting your CTA color in red alone, won’t help you solve your conversion problem.

Especially not if your website or product is sh*t.

But in certain cases, it can definitely help give that initial boost.

02) “Start Now” outperforms “Start Today” 🎬

The word “now” in CTA buttons (e.g. Try Now) outperforms “today” or “get started” by up to 15% in CTR.

🧪 Why this works?

Immediacy Bias: People naturally overvalue immediate rewards over future ones (hyperbolic discounting). “Now” triggers that bias and implies instant gratification.

Semrush and Stripe use this.

💎 3 use cases where “now” can be a better option

  1. 🆓 Freemium or Trial-First SaaS
Examples: Product design tools, developer APIs—instant engagement is key.

  2. 🛠️ Developer-Focused Platforms
“Start now” resonates with tech users craving immediate access (e.g., API docs, sandboxes).

  3. 🚀 “Quick Win” Tools
Think analytics, browser extensions, or landing page builders - low barrier, fast value.

03) Adding a “Free Trial” CTA instead of “Request a demo” can increase signups by up to 60%. 💸

A large-scale analysis of 11,286 paid search ads from January 2023 to August 2024 found that in non-branded campaigns, a "free trial" CTA achieved nearly 2× the click-through rate compared to a demo CTA, and even delivered almost double the conversions per thousand impressions.

Even Salesforce uses this tactic.

Now that you know these 3 tricks to increase your conversions, go & try them out.

Let me know if you see an uplift in CTR!
